Anjali Rao began in Mysore, spent six years in the ashtanga system, and then did something most teachers of her generation did not: she went and studied load. A functional range conditioning certification, four years assisting a sports physiotherapist in Pune, and a strength coaching qualification later, she came back to the mat with a different question — not whether a shape could be reached, but whether it could be owned.
She founded Elite Fitness in 2019 to teach the two things together. Her classes still open with breath and close with stillness; in between there is tempo work, unilateral loading and end-range holds that would not look out of place in a rehabilitation clinic. She caps every group at eight so she can see all of them, and she writes every private plan by hand.
